Every name has a story, and ours has two words in it.

Gulabi - pink, the color that Jaipur wears like a second skin. Walk through the old city at golden hour, and the sandstone walls, the havelis, the bazaars- everything glows the same warm rose. It's not a color here. It's an identity.

Sa - the beautiful Rajasthani way of adding warmth and respect.

Put them together and you get GulabiSa: respect, worn in pink.

We're Ashish and Sugandha, and this brand started the way most honest things do: with us falling in love with something we had known our whole lives. Sugandha grew up in and around Jaipur’s bazaars, the print blocks, the sunsets falling softly on pink walls, and the sound of hand-block stamps hitting cotton in a courtyard, the kind of everyday craftsmanship that's so woven into daily life there that you almost stop noticing it's extraordinary. Ashish saw it for the first time as an outsider and couldn't help but notice.

The idea itself was born on a very ordinary day, in a very ordinary place, Bapu Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in Jaipur, the kind of place Sugandha had walked through since she was a child. We were shopping, weaving through stalls of block-printed fabric, mojris, lac bangles, earrings; the everyday, unremarkable-to-a-local abundance of Rajasthani craft. And in the middle of it, almost offhand, Sugandha said something that didn't feel offhand at all: we need to take Rajasthan's craft around the world.

That was it. That was the whole idea, said in one sentence in a crowded bazaar. Not a business plan. Not a pitch. Just a very clear, very true thing that neither of us could unhear afterward.

Because here's the thing about crafts like this: they're not short on skill. They're short on a bridge, something that carries them from a bazaar in Jaipur into a home in Bangalore, a wardrobe in Delhi, a wedding table in London. Skill without access fades. So we decided to build that bridge.

GulabiSa is our attempt to bring authentic Rajasthani craftsmanship- heritage prints, natural dyes, techniques that have outlived kingdoms into homes and wardrobes that are thoroughly, unapologetically contemporary. Not museum pieces. Not costumes. Things you actually live in and live with. A hand-block cushion cover on a modern grey sofa. A Bagru-print bag on your regular catch-up with friends. Pieces designed for now, made the way they've always been made.

We're early in this journey. There's no long history to tell you yet, no decades of milestones, just a clear reason for starting, and a lot of intention about where we're headed. What we can promise is this: everything that carries the GulabiSa name will be made with real hands, real heritage, and real respect for both.

Pink, after all, isn't just Jaipur's color. To us, it's now the color of everything we're trying to build.
